I balanced my checkbook last night. It made me happy.
If that scares you - it's OK. The things I like to do are scary sometimes. Not in a creepy stalker, dogs talk to me and tell me to kill people way.... but still scary - or let's just say eccentric. Yes, I like that - eccentric.
I've always had a thing with numbers. Walking to school as a kid I'd play a game with the cracks in the sidewalk. It involved counting a certain number of cracks and then jumping over a number of sidewalk squares. I have no idea how I came up with it. But I loved it. I tried to teach it to my kids, but they thought I was weird......no - let's stick with eccentric.
Some people write songs, some people are great decorators.....I like numbers. They make sense to me. It's helped me out in many areas of my life and when I worked. Since I've had my children and stopped working I had been on a search for a small part time job and I thought of bookkeeping. When I mentioned it to a friend she commented "Why don't you find something FUN to do?" You know what? I think bookkeeping IS fun. (It's OK if you've shifted back to scared).
I've hesitated to post this entry. An admission of this sort does not exactly place me at the top of people's party invitation list. But my friend Karen has shared with me about being authentic. And this is who I am. Warts and all.

I love Numbers too...which is why, I suppose, I'm a bookkeeper! I also used to count cracks, tiles in the ceiling, bricks on the wall...you name it, I've counted it. :-) My latest obsession - counting strides on the treadmill.
I'm a firm believer, there is nothing wrong with being eccentric! Embrace it babe! Because it's who you are! I love you!
I love numbers too. So we can be "weird" together. Funny, I am going to school for bookkeeping. Numbers are fascinating, and don't let anyone tell you any differently!
Thank God you love numbers! It makes people like me grateful to have a friend like you! I'm a letters type of girl. The only time I count is when my son is doing something he shouldn't, or when I am trying to bore myself to sleep! So what you like numbers? Nothing wrong with that!

I always knew you were excentric !!! And I know you have a thing for numbers, they are concrete, they dont'change and
2 + 2 will always = 4 . Whats not to like.
However had I know this information 7 yrs ago I could have paid you the one thousand dollars I paid for someone to edit & run my statistics for my thesis paper.

i love numbers, too! karen and i had a very exciting convo about organization, stapling and counting one time. yup. i didn't know this about myself until my 30s because i was always told i was BAD AT MATH because my mom was bad at math and i sucked at algebra, so 1 + 1 = courtney sucks at math. did you know there was a barbie doll in the 70's that literally said "MATH IS HARD?" i tell the truth... scary. hot math babes rule. you rule, alima. yes, you do.
